Plavecký Mikuláš lies in two Malokarpatska valleys: Mokrej and Suchej. The hills stand out above the village: Holá hora, Hurka, Korlátko, Drinova hora, Chrastavá hora and Dubníček, on which the Catholic parish church of St. Nicholas, the patron saint of the village, is built. A stream, called Starý potok, flows along the entire village. The village existed as early as 1224.
