The village of Vištuk

The village of Vištuk is located on the eastern side of the Little Carpathians - on the so-called Trnavská pahorkatina. The first written mention of the village is from 1244. Archaeological finds, however, testify that the village was inhabited during the Great Moravian Empire.

The first written mention of Vištuk comes from the year 1244 from the royal document of the Hungarian king Bela IV. The purpose of this document, the original of which has not been preserved, was permission for the nobles Farkaš and Dávida to build a church in honor of the king's sister St. Elizabeth of Thuringia. This church was to be built in the village of Kaplná and at the same time a new parish was to be established, in which King Belo IV. determined that Vistuk should also belong. This privilege was to be expressed as an expression of gratitude for the services of the two nobles they performed for his sister when she went to Thuringia. However, it is necessary to state that the year 1244 does not indicate the origin of the village. It is therefore probable that Vištuk had existed for a very long time before the document was drawn up. In this document, Vistuk is mentioned as Vyscha. It is the first known name of this village.

The document also states that Vistuk belonged at that time to a nobleman, a landowner - Tiburci. He was a jobbagion at Bratislava Castle. The Jobbagions were noble peasants who performed military guard duty at Bratislava Castle. As a reward for loyalty, the king gave Tiburci the territory of Vistuka. From later documents we learn that the village was later owned by his son and then by his descendants - Peter and Tomáš. However, in 1296, Tomáš was deprived of his part. The document also testifies that Vištuk belonged to the district of the Bratislava Castle Estate. It can be deduced from the document that the village must have existed long before it was donated to Tiburci. Hereditary owners - the Tiburci did not give the village a name. She had it before and the inhabitants had it so fixed that it lasted for centuries.
