From history to the present
Veľký Biel lies on the western part of the Danubian Lowland, on the south-eastern edge of the Trnava Uplands, on the floodplain of Čierna vody. About 25 km from the capital Bratislava and 3 km from the district town Senec.
The village initially belonged to the Bratislava County, later to the districts of Galanta, Bratislava-Countryside, and now to the district of Senec.
Veľký Biel consists of two municipalities - Veľký Biel and Malý Biel. The first written records of Veľký Biela are from 1294, when it was called BEEL, the current name of the village has been used since 1948. Previously, the name Magyarbél was used. The first written mention of Little White dates from 1323. A village named Minor Beel and Németbél is mentioned. In 1948 the village was renamed Malý Biel and in 1960 the two villages were merged and the common name Veľký Biel is used.
The village of Beel belonged to Bratislava Castle. The peasant families of the Föles, Szülő, Horváth and Molnárov had their property here. In the middle of the 18th century, part of the village belonged to Sipkovitz, Dadanyi and the last owner was the landowner Uhlík. The village of Minor Beel belonged to the Orosz family. Croatian colonists settled here in the 16th century.
In 1719, the construction of one of the largest Baroque mansions in the area began. The manor house was owned by Žigmund Csáky and managed by his brother, Archbishop Imrich. The manor house was bright in 1930. The planner was Fischner von Erlach and his son. The owner of the Bernolákov manor, J. Eszterházy, supervised the construction work. Of interest were e.g. windows, in the whole building there were 365 days a year, 52 rooms as weeks a year and 7 gates as days a week. To the right of the manor house was a chapel, the walls of which were paintings by the author GA Galliarti. Among other things, this object also served as a priestly seminar.

In 1955, the reconstruction of the manor house began and in 1960 it was handed over for use as a Retirement Home with a capacity of 237 beds. Later it functioned as an Institute for Mentally Handicapped Women and since 2006 the manor has not been in use and has fallen into disrepair. As part of the restitution, the manor was returned to the descendants who now live in Slovakia and the Czech Republic. Nobody knows for sure yet what fate awaits the already sufficiently dilapidated manor house.
The inhabitants of the village were mainly engaged in agriculture, fruit and vegetable growing. Job opportunities in the village were limited, and therefore residents went to work in Bratislava and Senec.
From 1948, the village grew, new family houses were built. In the 1960s, dust-free roads began to be built, public lighting was introduced, a post office building, a culture house, a new primary school, a school group, a mourning house were built, and the fire station building and the municipal office were reconstructed. Citizens built a sports complex on their own and gasified the whole village. At the turn of the seventies and eighties, the average age of the population entered rapidly. At that time, young families moved to Senec and Bratislava.

After 1985, however, the construction of family houses began, and thus the settlement of the village with new inhabitants from various parts of Slovakia.
At present, the village has more than 800 family houses and several residential houses, their number is constantly increasing and new modern residential areas are being created here. In Veľký Biela there are all the basic institutions and services necessary for comfortable living: kindergarten, primary school, cultural house with a playground, shops, sports grounds, facilities with various services (hairdresser, massage, etc.), health center with pharmacy, cafes and bars and, last but not least, the lake, which is a frequent destination for walks and relaxation. The village also organizes regular sports and cultural events for residents and visitors to the village, such as Village Day, football tournament, feasts, sports competitions, etc.
