The first written mention of it comes from 1630. For visitors and tourists are interesting preserved old wooden houses, which are widely used as holiday cottages. The Domovina choir, the amateur ensemble M-BRAVO, the Bielohandeľské cultural association Bukovinka and the folklore ensemble of the same name operate in the village. The village has a rich football history, a nice sports complex, where sports activities have been developed for many years by the football club SOKOL Braväcovo. A green marked tourist route passes through the village, along which you can reach the highest peak of the cadastre - Beňuška, 1,542 m above sea level, popularly called "Käčka".
