The village was founded on the forgách estate in 1798 in the area of the village Kokava. The first settlers built a glassworks here, then the only one in Gemer. There is a Roman Catholic Classicist church from 1812 - 1818 and a log house with a barn and a stone barn. The beauty of the village also inspired the filmmakers who shot the exteriors of the films Zemianska honor (1957) and Zbojnícka mladosť (1960).
