The village of Bacúrov

This picturesque village is located south of the town of Zvolen, in the Pliešovská basin, between the villages of Ostrá Lúka, Dubové and Breziny. The village hides a lot of interesting things that characterize it. Due to its location in the embrace of the mountains, Javorie in the east, in the west by the Protected Landscape Area Štiavnické vrchy, it creates a beautiful landscape scenery full of life. There are many natural, historical and cultural attractions in the village that are worth seeing and comforting the eye and soul.

The local nature offers from trees more than a hundred years old, trees of interesting and unusual shapes to the water reservoir in the middle of the village "Pleso". The area is full of life from fish, turtles, storks, horses, hedgehogs to foxes, martens, wild boar, roe deer, deer and fallow deer. It is impossible not to meet or ignore any of this.

The historical buildings of folk architecture as well as the oldest building of the village church, dating from the 1930s, rebuilt in 1790, are a reminder of the more than 760th history of the village. The bells in its tower are also rare. The large bell dates from 1502, the smaller one from 1689 and is still used today. The boundary stone between Bacúrov and Dubový with a carved cross on both sides, which probably dates back to the Middle Ages, is also exceptional. The history of the village itself is also interesting, with its pitfalls, mission and personalities, which they completed, influenced the wider surroundings but also Slovaks. The most famous are the nationalists Andrej Truchlý-Sytniansky and Karol Anton Medvecký - the first secretary of Matica slovenská. Not only Bacurians can be rightfully proud of them, but also all Slovaks. But even hardworking hands are characteristic of this community. In addition to machining their fields and men's roles, they also worked in the forest. But the most widespread craft in the village was basketry. They made the baskets large, from oak groves and smaller from hazelnuts. In addition to the immediate surroundings, they also knew Bacúr's basket makers in Šahy, Brezno, Banská Štiavnica and their surroundings.

The village is also interesting for its culture. The costumed past consisted of customs and traditions, the construction of May, carnival, ripping of feathers, cleaning of wells in the area. The interest of the village and a certain sign of tolerance is that there were and there are up to 3 church communities in the village. Roman Catholic, which also includes the church dedicated to St. Simon and St. Judas, Evanj. the church belonging to Ostrá Luka and the House of Believers in Christ of Nazareth. There were also Benedictines in the village and currently there is the House of St. Gorazd. There are several hiking trails through the village. The most famous is the Barborská cesta.
