The name of the village originated from a rich mining activity and gradually changed from Banyapathaka allas Wyuagas in 1397 since when there is also the first written mention of the village of Banská, in In 1471 the name was changed to Kwsbanyapathaka, after the Hungarian Banszka in 1,773th
There was a rich mining and work activity, as evidenced by the fact that in In 1715 there were 2 mills and 41 households in Banský, in 1787 80 houses and 608 inhabitants, who were engaged in wheelwrighting, blacksmithing, weaving, logging and burning coal. Andesite, which was mined here until recently, is abundant in the vicinity of the village. The Hanušov viaducts and the railway tunnel between Hrabovec and Strážský are partly built from our andesite.
In the twelfth century, a lot of wood was mined in the surrounding forests, which were owned by the Andráši family, for the transport of which a narrow-gauge railway from our village to Sačurov, 15 km long, was used and served until 1935, unfortunately it has not been preserved for us. A Baroque-Classicist church built in 1788. Previously in its place stood a wooden church, from which a stone baptistery from r. 1688, which is stored in the Zemplín Museum in Michalovce.
Tourism: The village has no travel facilities yet. It has no traffic, but it is suitable for tourism, it is surrounded by the Slanské Mountains, about 5 km of hiking leads to the hill Makovica, from where there is a nice view in nice weather is visible Saj Košice - smoking chimneys of the former VSŽ. Hiking tours can be arranged, as well as cycling routes that lead to the nearby Herľanský geyser.
Sports and culture: The most important of the sporting events is the Bančanská ten - 10 km run through the village, and of the cultural events, the district competition show of folklore groups and singers of folk songs - Roztoky.
