It borders the cadastral territory of the municipalities of Hertník, Šiba, Kobyly, Fričkovce, Osikov, Vaniškovce and Janovce. The Sekčov, Vieska and Hlboký potok streams flow through the village.
The oldest direct report on the village dates from 1408. However, the existence of the village and its area is indirectly but undoubtedly evidenced by the fact that when defining the area of Vaniškoviec in 1374, Bartošovský stream is mentioned. Due to the fertile land and the proximity of Bardejov, landowners settled here, who built a mayor with cattle breeding and the cultivation of agricultural crops and flour production.
