It was established in 1968 by merging the settlements of Čergov, Hliník, Veľký and Malý Kindeš, Zlatá Osada and Ostrov. Aluminum is first mentioned in 1386 as the property of the Archbishopric of Esztergom. The village lies on alluvial soils, overgrown along the Váh river by a floodplain forest. In the past, majors were founded here by local landowners. Vrbová has preserved its agricultural character to this day. After the Feszty family, a small Kindeš manor house remained in the settlement. In 1902, Gyula Feszta had a romantic studio added to the original building by his brother Arpád, a painter. He later, together with his mother-in-law Mór Jókai, drafted a proposal for the panoramic painting The Arrival of the Hungarians. Remarkable is the nature reserve Leaf Lake, which is included in the system of protected areas Natura 2000. There is a red-bellied frog and rare water lilies.
