The village of Kolta

They have Paris in a village in the south of Slovakia. This is the name of a stream that springs nearby and flows through Kolta. However, it was named not after the French capital, but from the word para, steam.

It is really a thermal stream, which in the 19th century was described by the French geologist Bendet as a mineral with rich eruptions. The stream is over 40 kilometers long and flows into the Hron near the village of Kamenný Most. There are specialists in Kolta for the names. According to one legend, the local landowner Kurthy distributed the land to the new settlers with a saber, and where he cut, the settler immediately pushed a pin. The fields sounded "round here, round ta". That's how Kolta was born. But it's really just a rumor, because people have lived here at least 4 centuries before. In the 14th century, Kolta is even mentioned in the royal charter. The name may have been related to even older history. The mound, called "Gulbiš Hill", and the like in the place of the old village were Celtic and prove that the Celts really lived here. According to them, the village could also be called. The dominant feature of Kolta is a beautiful neo-Gothic manor house from the beginning of the 20th century. It is a cultural monument and is awaiting reconstruction. Kürthy's manor is also a cultural monument. The municipality wants to set up a museum here, but the building needs reconstruction. It is worth mentioning the park near the manor house and the Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary from the 19th century.

One locality is called Pustý kostolík, but it is an excellent place to relax. It's not so desolate here. It is necessary to take a bicycle - the cycle route connects all municipalities associated in the Termál Microregion. And whoever came to Kolta during Advent and Christmas should certainly not miss the point of interest - a wooden nativity scene made in life size by a local carver.
