When it became independent from Kolárov in 1954, it became the youngest independent municipality in Slovakia. Today it has more than 450 inhabitants, complete engineering networks, straight streets. The settlement of Malý Ostrov is also a part of the village. At present, visitors are most attracted by the possibilities of water sports on the Váh and the Danube nature.
