Sľažany lies in the northern part of the Žitavská pahorkatina in the valley of the Čerešňová brook. The first written mention dates from 1156, when the villages of Horné and Dolné Sľažany are first mentioned as an offshoot of the Tekov parish. Sľažany was formed in 1960 by merging them. In the village there is a manor house from 1691, which, however, has undergone many reconstructions over the years and to this day its original appearance has not been preserved. The Baroque Church of the Holy Trinity from 1777 is also an important monument. In the nearby park, visitors can admire several protected trees - oak, linden, horse chestnut, sycamore and magnolia. During the year, several events take place in the village, such as the Sľažiansky kotlík, a football tournament for the mayor's cup, carnival or a general slaughterhouse.
