The village of Liptovská Teplička

It is located in the Prešov region, at the northern foot of the Low Tatras, with an altitude of 920 m above sea level in the center of the village. It currently has 2,380 inhabitants. With a cadastral area of almost 9686 ha and more than a 60-kilometer border, it is one of the largest villages in Slovakia. The inhabitants are of Roman Catholic faith. The village was founded on the basis of Šoltý law in the second wave of Wallachian colonization by settling the Goral population from the upper Orava.

The village of Liptovská Teplička

It is located in the Prešov region, at the northern foot of the Low Tatras, with an altitude of 920 m above sea level in the center of the village. It currently has 2,380 inhabitants. With a cadastral area of almost 9686 ha and more than a 60-kilometer border, it is one of the largest villages in Slovakia. The inhabitants are of Roman Catholic faith. The village was founded on the basis of Šoltý law in the second wave of Wallachian colonization by settling the Goral population from the upper Orava.

The first written mention of the village is from 1634, the inhabitants were engaged in agriculture, work in the forests, rafting and tanning.

The development of the village is set in rugged terrain, dominated by the surrounding carefully managed landscape. On the territory of the municipality there are protection zones of water sources of the 1st and 2nd degree of the Podtatransko-Spišská water supply system. The village lies on the border of 2 national parks - Tatra National Park and Low Tatras National Park. The current mayor is Mgr. Slavomír Kopáč.

VILLAGE VALUES - landscape, traditions and cultural heritage, openness and self-sufficiency
The landscape in the village and its surroundings is shaped by landmarks: architecture, cellars, barn, terraced fields. Several log houses have been preserved from the original folk architecture, one wooden house serves as a museum - the Teplice House. Liptovská Teplička boasts a unique European feature - potato cellars. Another uniqueness is the "barn", a set of farm buildings - barns. The phenomenon of the landscape in the immediate vicinity of the village is created by terraced fields, created by plowing into a steep slope and by stacking rocks along the edges of the fields.

The cultural heritage of the village is folklore, crafts, folk costumes, dialects and natives.
The village is the birthplace of several important personalities as well as Mons. Fr.. Štefan Náhalka, papal prelate, co-founder of the Slovak Institute of St. Cyril and Methodius in Rome and Mons. Štefan Garaj - papal prelate, long-term administrator of the Spiš diocese, streets are named after both natives, other streets bear the original dialect names.

The dialect unique in Slovakia is still used, processed in book and audio - visual form. The children's folklore ensemble Turnička, the folklore group Tepličan as well as the local primary school with the Štefan Náhalka kindergarten in their regional education are trying to preserve songs, dances, costumes, traditions. Several crafts are preserved in Liptovská Teplička. The preservation of cultural heritage is taken care of by the local municipal television, which processes film documents about the village.

Openness / domestic, foreign cooperation / and self-sufficiency

Many associations and organizations work and cooperate in Liptovská Teplička, such as the Voluntary Fire Brigade, FSK Tepličan, DFS Turnička, TJ Tatran Liptovská Teplička, ŠK Horec, Church Choir, Children's Church Choir, youth association "Prepare the way for the Lord", World Red Cross World Championships, MO Matice Slovenská, MS of the Slovak Union of Anti-Fascist Fighters, MS of the Slovak Association of the Disabled, Parents 'Board of Primary Schools, Parents' Board of Kindergartens, OZ Friends of Folklore, CVČ at ZŠsMŠ, ZUŠ branch, which help organize rich cultural and social life in the village.

The cooperation of the municipality with the Agricultural Participating Cooperative Liptovská Teplička, which extends to almost all areas of social life, is above standard, PPD is a producer of organic food and the Forest Land Association Liptovská Teplička. The village is a member of the microregion Pramene Hornádu and Čierny Váh, the Regional Association of Tatra and Sub-Tatra Municipalities, the Regional Tourism Organization of the High Tatras - Podhorie, PRO Tatry, and the Association of Mountain Settlements.

The municipality, school and DHZ maintain a partnership with the municipality of Dolní Čermná - Czech Republic. Elementary school and folklore groups are involved in international projects and visit many countries.

The municipality cooperates with the municipalities of Kazar (Hungary), Kuniow (Poland), Lososina Dolná (Poland), Veľké Berezné (Ukraine) and others.

Self-sufficiency of the village - it is also a social and health service - an outpatient clinic of a general, pediatric, dental, gynecological-obstetrical-urological doctor.

Throughout the year, events in the village and its surroundings are captured by municipal television in its news, journalism, and every Sunday it also broadcasts a recording of St. Masses. The municipal newspaper Liptovská Teplička also contributes to the awareness of the population.

In the village there are 5 grocery stores, meat shop, textile, florist, post office, trucking, sawmill. Liptovská Teplička has a beautiful natural environment and excellent conditions for rest, sports and recreation, which the village uses in the development of tourism. Accommodation is provided by several guesthouses, meals are available in 2 restaurants. There is a multipurpose playground with artificial grass, educational trail around the village, marked 5 hiking and biking trails.
