A small village in the foothills of Považský Inovec became known to the public thanks to an archeological site at the height of Kostolec.
From the archaeological and historical point of view, the church is one of the important Slovak localities. It is declared a national cultural monument. The oldest settlement in this area comes from the Paleolithic, but the most important settlement in Kostolec is the Slavic one from the 9th and 10th centuries. The palisade of oak wheels, log houses and the church (rotunda) are characterized as part of the noble court. In the list of national cultural monuments, there are also several houses in the upper part of the village as a monument zone. The most important event in Ducov is the national pilgrimage to Kostolec on the occasion of the feast of St. Cyril and Methodius. In recent years, the event Clash of Cultures has become a tradition in Kostolec. History buffs will remember life in the past during the two summer days. Dwellings will be built here, and knightly and fencing associations will show visitors period clothing, games and a kitchen.
