The original area of the village Orvište was later divided into two parts. The villages of Veľké and Malé Orvište were established. History has left its legacy in the form of archaeological finds from the 16th century. The dominant feature is the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. Important historical monuments include: the bell tower of the Evangelical Church, the cross in the cemetery, statues of pieta, the family of God and the Holy Trinity. At present, the village actively represents the sports club TJ Slovan Veľké Orvište and the fishing association, which annually organizes sport fishing competitions. Leisure activities are also represented in the premises of the cultural house, where the project "Polepšovňa" was created with the support of the municipality. There are sports and recreation zones for all ages. Every year, the village organizes cultural and social events for its inhabitants and the surrounding area.
