The oldest document that guards the name of this village dates from 1209 and mentions it under the name PELLY. Albert, the son of the BOLYÁR-PÉPLYI country family, became the lord of the settlement from 1251 and was named Bolyár Pélyi. Later, it was taken over by the Hunyadi family from Kalna and partly by the Majthényi family. The name of the village is further mentioned in documents from 1484 (Egyházaspél) from the time of Turkish rule (in the years 1543 - 1583), when the settlers themselves were taxpayers.

Around 1550, when the Urbár Act was created, writings from the PÉLYI family appeared.
The last documents from the feudal period (after the Hunyadi family) found in the Nitra archive the so-called A list of subjects from the time of Maria Theresa (circa 1770), which gave a specific overview of the inhabitants and specific cultivated areas of land. At the end of the 18th century we also meet the last name of the village Pial, resp. Upper Pial, which has been preserved to this day.
