The village was founded on the basis of Wallachian law. It belonged to the Krásna Hôrka estate. The inhabitants subsisted on sheep farming, burning charcoal, wagons, work in the forest and mines, later in a tobacco factory in Smolník. Weaving was also developed in the village.
