Our village is called Medveďov - Medve. The village lies by the river Danube. The etimological name probably comes from the Hungarian variation of the Slovak word bear. Historians, however, consider it impossible for bears to live in the places of today's Medveďov. However, the basis for the name of the village could also be a personal name. Even the date of establishment of the village is not certain, it is assumed that it was founded in the 10th - 12th century, but the guard settlement at the ford could have existed much earlier.

We meet the name of the village for the first time in a document from 1252, where Villa Medwe is mentioned as the property of Bratislava Castle. Contemporary documents even mention two villages called Medveďov, Veľký and Malá Medveďov.
Little Bear is also mentioned as Kenderesmedve. The past of the village is inextricably linked with the Danube. Below the village in the place of today's bridge was located the so-called. Deer ford, where the herd of deer and roe deer crosses the state border at low water levels. Even lower was the island of Cholera, where patients were interned until the 19th century during the cholera epidemic. At the time of the Turkish invasion, the village opposite Györ on the left bank of the Danube was completely looted and destroyed. At that time, the Catholic church also disappeared, which could be one of the churches built according to the decree every ten municipalities will build a church issued by Stephen I.
This first church in Mezzičiliz is also mentioned in Pázmány's inventory as the old one. After the expulsion of the Turks from Hungary, German colonists settled here, who call the village Weisskirchen / White Church /. In 1634, the village belongs to the Komárno county and its landowners are the Héderváryi family and the Rab chapter. The village was without a church for a long time, the believers built a new classicist church again only in 1800, but it burned down in 1855, it was restored in 1860. In the last century there was a steam company, today there is a bridge in the place of the ford. By crossing this bridge on November 5, 1938, Hungarian troops began to occupy Žitný Ostrov in accordance with the Vienna Arbitration.

Data about the village in 1848 indicate that Medveďov is a Hungarian village in the Rab County, where Catholics live. The village has many mills on the Danube and the landowner is the Viczay family. According to the latest data from 2001, the area of the village was 1,046 hectares and there were 590 inhabitants in 222 houses. The coat of arms of the village of Medveďov was approved with the municipal council in 1997. The basis of the design was a municipal seal dating from the second half of the 19th century.
The seal with the circle MEDVE HELYSÉG PECSÉTJE / Seal of the village Medveďov / depicts a lion in a jump, holding a saber in his right paw. The color of the coat of arms of the village is as follows: in the green field of the shield is depicted a yellow / gold / lion with a red tongue and claws and a white / silver / saber. The color of the design was chosen to comply with the basic rule of heraldry for the use of paints and metals.
