The village of Sobotište is mentioned in writing for the first time in 1251 in the document of Bela IV. as "terra Zobodicha". The village belonged to the castle estate of the Bana castle, from 1297 to the Branč castle estate. The name of the village proves that it was probably established in the 12th century as a market settlement on the trade route connecting the territory of Moravia with the Danube region. It belongs to the very old villages of the Myjava Uplands.
