When examining the origins, many contexts, facts, prehistoric settlements, settlements of surrounding villages, historical reports, etc. must be taken into account.
In the 13th century, in a document of King Bel IV. (1235 –1270) from 1262 mentions the hill “mons Dobravada”, Latin “Bona Aqua”. This name "springs" probably from the water, the number of springs of which was distributed in the area of the village. Here, next to the Roman Catholic Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, a strong spring of the Blava river springs from below the rocks. Dobrá Voda is mentioned as a settlement in 1394. The landowners of the village, which was administered by the mayor, with the help of two councilors, two municipal stewards and seven oaths, have long been the owners of the castle: first Abovci, from 1394 Stibor I. from Stiborice, from 1434 royal crown, then from 1436 royal treasurer, later palatine Michal Országh of Gúth, in the 16th century Štefan Lossonczy, from 1569 Ján Chorenyi and from 1583 Krištof Ungnád. In recent centuries, there have been rich nobles here, first the Erdödy family and then the Pálffy family.
As I guess everywhere, even Dobra Voda did not avoid turbulent periods, frequent natural disasters, war events, large epidemics that disrupted the peaceful development and growth of the village. Land repression also had a significant effect on the life of the village.
