The name Ružinov does not appear until the beginning of the 20th century and comes from the name Ružen ostrov (Rosenheim).
The cultural monument, an architectural gem of Ružinov, is Csáky's manor house on Kaštieľská street in Prievoz from the end of the 19th century, built in the style of eclecticism. The original agricultural character at the end of the 19th century gradually began to replace the industrial character of Ružinov. A cable factory was established here, the Apollo refinery, Dynamit Nobel, Cvernovka, Danubius. The development of industry also brought about the emergence of workers' colonies in Niva and Trnávka.
