0 ratings
Originally, meadows, pastures, floodplains and groves were intertwined with the islands and branches of the Danube in today's part of the city. For the first time, in the eastern part, people settled 3,500 BC BC in Vlčom hrdle (the current Slovnaft complex). They dealt with pastoralism, agriculture, logging, built flood defenses, against the waters of the wide branched Danube. Near Bratislava, two fords led across the Little Danube. The village of Prievoz was established near the upper one. The coat of arms of Prievoz later became the coat of arms of the city district.

The name Ružinov does not appear until the beginning of the 20th century and comes from the name Ružen ostrov (Rosenheim).
The cultural monument, an architectural gem of Ružinov, is Csáky's manor house on Kaštieľská street in Prievoz from the end of the 19th century, built in the style of eclecticism. The original agricultural character at the end of the 19th century gradually began to replace the industrial character of Ružinov. A cable factory was established here, the Apollo refinery, Dynamit Nobel, Cvernovka, Danubius. The development of industry also brought about the emergence of workers' colonies in Niva and Trnávka.
