Bratislava - Petržalka is a city district of Bratislava with the largest population and one of the most densely populated areas in Slovakia and Central Europe. Originally it was a rural village near Bratislava called Engerau. (from the German "narrow floodplain"). It is located on the right bank of the Danube and currently has about 100,000 inhabitants. It is connected to the left bank of the Danube by 5 bridges - the Old Bridge, the SNP Bridge, the Port Bridge, the Lafranconi Bridge and the newest Apollo Bridge, which was put into operation in September 2005.
