The village of Dolná Seč lies on the left bank of the Hron floodplain, on Tertiary deposits. In the Middle Ages, it belonged to the Tekovská stool. In 1156, the parish document referred to "Villa Sauscsekei". A more credible data about the village comes from the year 1310, when it was still a complete village, later divided into Horná and Dolná Seč.
