The village of Dolné Semerovce was founded in 1260 during the reign of King Bel IV. The inhabitants were mainly engaged in agriculture. The strong spiritual foundation of the local population is evidenced by the fact that until the end of the Second World War it was the seat of the Order of Merciful Sisters. The monastery of the Sisters of Mercy from the 17th century has been preserved, which served as a hospital. Today, the building houses the municipal office. Roman Catholic Church of St. John the Baptist from the end of the 18th century is richly decorated with sacral monuments.
