The village of Kukučínov

The village is first mentioned in 1293 and was called Vruzy, in 1370 - Urusi, in 1920 - Oros za Hronom, in 1927 - Oros, in r. 1948 - Kukučínov. It lies at an altitude of 130 meters in the northeastern part of the Danubian lowlands on the floodplain of the river Hron and Ipeľská pahorkatina.

The flat to hilly surface of the area is formed by Tertiary clays and sands. Floodplain forests grow only on the floodplain, otherwise the area is deforested. From the Turkish tax census for the village of Kukučínov from 1570 we know for the first time some names of the inhabitants of the village, taxable men over 15 years: Simon Fazikas, Lukács Fazikas son Simone, Jób Nagy, Kelemen Mihály, Pál Mihály son of Kelemen, Tomás Orbán brother Balása, Bálint Mihály Albert Mihály son of Bálint, Ambrus Tót Gergely son of Ambrus, mayor of Dimitor Márton, István Márton son of mayor, Miklós Fazikas, Mihály Fazikas son of Miklós, Mátyás Pásztor, Mihály György. From 1571 we know a list of income of the Esztergom archbishopric, which is in the extensive file of the Saneti Alberti. In the cadastre of the village of Oroszy (Kukučínov) the census distinguishes three localities: Alsó Oroszy (Lower Orosz), Fölsö Órósi (Upper Oros) and Közép Orozy (Central Oros). The file also includes an extract from the land register of the archbishop's estate, in which the same localities are recorded. under the two names Középsö és Fölsö Oroszy (Middle and Upper Oros) and Alsó Oroszy (Lower Oros). Urbár explicitly says that Alsó Oroszy is a locality of land manors. Most likely, they were the mansions of the pre-Allied peasants. Zeman the predialist was appointed by a higher ecclesiastical dignitary by permanently lending agricultural land from his own ecclesiastical property. It was the duty of the predialist, if necessary, to perform military service under ecclesiastical pledge. Zeman the predialist was not entitled to the coat of arms. His property could not be sold, only his son could inherit it. Urbár notes on Central and Upper Orosa that he is abandoned, but there are ten manor houses. For each of them, a year must be paid to the bishop by 20 denarii by St. Martin's Day, ie by November 11. The reason is that it is a military tax.

It is recorded in the land register that predialists from the village of Giarmat (Hontianske Ďarmoty, Hontianská Vrbica) use abandoned lands of peasants from the localities of Stredný and Horný Oros. For these, they are obliged to pay the bishop 2 florins each year, which are due by the day of St. George, ie by April 23. Similarly, predialists from the municipality of Bernethe (Berecze now in Hungary) pay for the use of Kukučín land in the "de sarokewz" locality. Small farmers from Lwdan (Mýto Ludany), who keep their bees on the Kukučín inflorescence, are obliged to pay the bishop 1 denarius for each swarm of bees. Urbár stipulates that the tithe from the harvest must be settled in kind. it is noted that Kukučínov lives according to the laws and fines of the Tekovská stolica. An inventory of the port of towns and villages and settlements of the Esztergom archbishop's estate has been preserved from 1572. The location of Kukučínov is recorded here under the name Tres oros (Tri Orosy) with the fact that there is not a single port. In 1564, 14 ports were counted in the locality in the county census. Around 1595, the territory of Tekovská and Hontianská counties was briefly cleared of Turkish occupiers. Esztergom Sandzak is disappearing and the population is freed from the burden of Turkish taxation. The Christmas of freedom had tragic consequences. In the autumn of 1599, Turkish and Tatar hordes invaded the territory of Hontianska and Tekovská counties with unprecedented fury. In the districts of Levice, Vráble and Topolčianky alone, they burned more than 2,500 houses, dragged 1,500 adults, and stole 2,000 head of cattle. On December 2, 1599, the county congregation met in Nový Tekov. where the damage caused by the devastation was quantified.

The record of the damage to the estate of the Esztergom diocese states: The village of Nemesorosi (Zemianske Orosy, Kukučínov) also burned down with the harvest. Esztergom Sandzak is restored on October 3, 1605. The Turks are terrorizing the population and forcing them not only to comply with the original tax obligations, but to increase the original taxes to an unbearable level. The testimony of this is issued by the minutes of the meeting of the General Congregation of the Tekovská County from September 1634. The servant of the Levice district, Joannis Nagy Pély, speaks in his report about the village of Kukučínov under the name Garam Oroszi. He informs the congregation that the Turks occupied the village of Kukučínov immediately after the conquest of Esztergom: "The current lord of the village is Ramada Oda Pasha of Esztergom. He increased cash taxes by 2 florins and 12 denarii. They also increased benefits in kind. Instead of an annual dose of 20 hay and 20 wagons. the timber they have to transport to Esztergom must transport 32 wagons of hay and 32 wagons of timber. " Since 1663, the village has belonged to the administration of the sandžák in Nové Zámky. It is part of the property of the Esztergom Timar. Processed according to the article from Nový pohronie dated 4.8.1997, authors: Michal Korentsy, PhDr.Peter Turay)

Other materials revealed that in the 18th century the majority of the population worked in agriculture, cats and boats were made in our country. In 1775 a Roman Catholic church was built in the Baroque-Classical style and in 1786 a church in the Reformed Church. In the courtyard of the Roman Catholic church there are tombstones that have run out of time, in some we recognized the names of the buried: -Garam Veszelei Kazy László, élt 47 évet, meghalt 1931 marcius 12 (lived 47 years, died 12.3.1931) -Garam Veszelei Kazy István, legjobb férj, leggyengédebb apa, elhunyt 1869 November 24, 56 évesen (best husband and youngest father, died 24.11.1869, 56 years old) - Kazy Istvánné szűl.Nagyveszelei Báró Jeszenszki Anna, held 183 (8) 2 March 24, 73 (8) évében, died 24.3.1832 or 1882, 73 or 78 years old)

In 1949-1950, these stones were transferred from the park.
