The territory of Leopold belongs to the vast Danubian Lowland. Morphologically to the plain with minimal elevation on the alluvial plain, which is typical for Považie. The location of the town on the right bank in the direction of the flow with numerous meanders and former branches, now regulated by the flow in the diversion canal, also forms in Leopoldov the typical character of the seat in the Váh river basin with a relatively low altitude. In the past, the territory of Leopold was located in close proximity to the fortress. It gradually expanded not only due to the need to provide crafts and operation, but also in terms of the use of natural conditions of localities and its geographical location, especially on the main transport routes.
