The village of Šoporňa is a typical West Slovak village located about seven kilometers southeast of Sereda along the road to Šala. Maj. Štrkovec also belongs to the cadastral territory of the village of Šoporňa. Not far from the village flows the river Váh. The first records of the existence of Šoporna are listed in the founding document of the Premonstratensian monastery in Turkey in Kláštor pod Znievom from 1251. Šoporna is mentioned here under the name Supurni as part of the Šintava estate.
