The village of Šelpice is located 6 km northwest of the regional city of Trnava. Its territory was inhabited at the end of the Early Stone Age. The oldest written mention of the existence of the village is a document of the Czech King Wenceslas I, which he donated to Šelpice / Selpe / to the Cistercian monastery in Tišňov in Moravia. After the Turkish invasion in 1530, the village was only a depopulated incinerator. It was not repopulated until 1539 by the new owners of the Červenokamenský estate - the Fugger family.
