The first record of the village of Podbranč is from 1394, when 13 villages were added to the estate of Branč Castle. However, the village existed much earlier, but it was not written about, because the villages and settlements of Kopanice in the vicinity of Branč were allocated to Sobotišť. The village has had the name Podbranč for over 200 years.

The village of Podbranč

The first record of the village of Podbranč is from 1394, when 13 villages were added to the estate of Branč Castle. However, the village existed much earlier, but it was not written about, because the villages and settlements of Kopanice in the vicinity of Branč were allocated to Sobotišť. The village has had the name Podbranč for over 200 years.

Kopaničiarska village Podbranč consists of three main local parts - Dolná Dolina, Majeričky, Podzámok - and a large number of settlements and solitudes. The village lies in the northwest of the Myjava hills and can boast of picturesque nature with beautiful views from the ruins of the castle Branč. The dominant feature of the village is Branč Castle, where evangelical services are held every year on the occasion of the feast of the heralds Cyril and Methodius and the second weekend in July the castle festivities. Attractions include two bell towers, the original mill of Mr. Pagáč and Pálenica u Varsíkov. Visitors can choose from several hiking and biking trails, such as. educational trail Starý hrad - Branč or Kopaničiarska cycle route.

It covers an area of 1,414 hectares and consists of 37 settlements, solitudes and larger settlements. Most of them lie in the valley of the river Myjava (U Varsíkov, Horná Dolina, Majeričky, Dolná Dolina, Švrčkov Jarok, U Hulkov, U Gažov, etc.). Another part of the village lies directly below the ruins of Branč Castle (Podzámok) and in the valleys at the foot of the castle hill (Martiské, Drieňové, etc.). In the past, the inhabitants were engaged in agriculture and cattle breeding. There were also two mills (early 19th century), which were later added to the quarry. In 1907, the Food Cooperative was founded here.

There are several social and interest organizations. The most active of them are the Democratic Union of Women, the Association of Small Farmers, the Physical Education Unity - Football Section. Two voluntary fire brigades are successfully operating at the District Office, in the Dolná Dolina and Horná Dolina areas. He actively works in the village Hunting Association BRANČ, which achieves excellent results in game breeding, as well as trophy successes. There is also an organization of beekeepers in the village and two supervisory committees of Jednota work here. For such a small village with a population, this social activity is at a very good level. Citizens, members of these organizations, help the municipality mainly in part-time form in events organized by the municipality. The municipal office then caters to the organizations according to its capabilities, whether through organizational or financial assistance.
