Popudinské Močidľany was founded in May 19, 1957 by merging the hitherto independent villages of Popudiny and Močidľany.
Popudiny is mentioned in 1392 under the name POPUDYM. The village was the property of Branč Castle, then belonged to the Šaštín and Holíč estates. In the 17th century the Habáns settled here. In the years 1730 to 1773 Popudiny belonged to the Skalický Jesuits and later to the Holíč estate, the Habsburgs. In the 18th century the village was also called SENTISTVÁN KIRÁLY FALVA and at the beginning of the 1st Czechoslovakia Štefanová. Močidľany is mentioned in 1392 under the name MOCHILAN. Like Popudiny, they belonged to the Holíč estate and in the years 1730-1773 to the Skalický Jesuits and then to the Habsburgs. In the 18th century, the village was called CZOBORFALVA.
