Unlike his work, V. Merta's pilgrimage was not straightforward. As a graduate architect, he continued his studies at FAMU, where he completed screenwriting and directing. But even then, in the late 60's, he started composing the first songs. Coincidentally, his first album Ballades de Prague (1969) was released on a French label during his study stay. You would be hard pressed to find him today, it is a collector's rarity. Just like all his plates used to be.
