The portal karvi.sk in cooperation with the Safe Driving Center prepared a unique event on September 30, 2023 at the Slovakia Ring in Orechová Potôn. It is intended for active as well as future motorhome drivers and their family members, friends, and fans.
Experience safe danger
The possibility to experience dangerous situations on your own skin, but at the same time safely, is not the only goal of the Schmyku School. "The main goal is to rehearse different variants of crisis situations so that when they actually happen, the driver reacts with a cool head, subconsciously and correctly ," said František Oravec from the portal karvi.sk, which organizes the Motorhome Skid School.
Registered participants first undergo theoretical training with professional instructors. During the audio-visual theoretical training, the drivers will get to know the technique of managing a crisis situation on a straight line and in a curve, as well as the principles of emergency braking and maneuvering the vehicle in deteriorated conditions. They will learn about all the options for managing front and rear wheel slippage. They will find out if they are sitting behind the wheel correctly and understand what consequences the way things are stored in the car can have in the event of a traffic accident.
After the theoretical part comes the real challenge - a real ski school. Each driver receives intensive practical training on a professional simulation training ground. " The basis of the training is skid surfaces, on which there is no wear of the vehicle or the tires! The instructor will individually adjust the difficulty of each exercise to each driver, while he will constantly accompany and guide the driver via radio ," explained the representative of the organizer.
Motorhome drivers will try:
* how the braking distance grows at different speeds,
* how the vehicle behaves in understeer and oversteer skids (front wheel skid and rear wheel skid),
* emergency braking,
* the influence of the centrifugal force of the vehicle in a corner,
* the validity of seat belts in the vehicle and much more.
Travel safely
"Great emphasis will be placed on handling unexpected crisis situations and on the driver's immediate, if possible, correct response. The goal is to automate the acquired skills so that the driver reacts subconsciously in a real crisis situation," said F. Oravec from the karvi.sk portal.
After graduation, the driver will gain more confidence in driving the vehicle, will be able to prevent the emergence of a crisis situation, and will get to know the technical capabilities of (his) vehicle and himself better.
Drivers can complete the skid school in their own motorhome, but also in a car that will be available especially for this event. Participants will receive a certificate of completion of the motorhome handling training.
The number of places in the course is limited so that each participant of the Motorhome Skid School has sufficient space for theoretical preparation and practical testing of handling crisis situations under the guidance of an instructor.

We recommend coming to the Slovakia ring area already on Friday, September 29. A parking area will be prepared for the motorhomes of all participants.
Saturday morning starts with a short briefing and will be followed by theoretical and practical training for drivers.
Others, including children, can use free entry to the nearby Malkia Park and the Military History Museum. On Saturday evening, a nice program awaits the participants, but it is still secret. We can reveal that the topic will be security and of course caravanning.
We believe that on Sunday morning we will all leave richer in experience, confidence, new experiences and friendships, and we will all safely return to our homes with solid foundations.

During Saturday it is possible to buy tickets for 2 dates:
the first term of the course starts on Saturday 30.9. at 08:30 and ends at 13:30 (theory + practice), or the second term of the course starts at 12:30 and ends at 17:30 (theory + practice).
The meeting place is in front of the Ring Hotel at 08:30 and then the second date is at 12:30, starting with a theoretical lesson in the Ring Hotel.
