"At that time, of course, we perceived this robot as a huge burden, because in our teens we started to focus more on football," Radoslav recalls. The brothers played in the 1st youth league and thanks to the training they didn't have to work so much at home. "

Our grandfather was the chairman of the team for 25 years, we had to have everything tip-top. Our vineyard must have looked like an English lawn, in this we were raised, in this we lived. We went to download wine all winter, to wash barrels, so for me it was as obvious to me as to breathe with wine again. ”For a while, it seemed that the brothers would drag the cart of family tradition further. They both graduated from an agricultural school in Levice, but eventually ended up in a completely different field, a hunt away from winemaking. Why and when did they return to him? As every season, in 2008, they took part in a family harvest and then decided to make their first wine of their own, which Radoslav explains as follows: “When a person grows up, he joins somewhere, but if he has a relationship, he doesn't even know why, but pulls him to do it. And we naturally returned to that wine in this way. "

What the hell didn't want

In 2008, today, respected winemakers, the Frtús brothers from Frtus Winery, decided to produce their own wine after a family harvest and shared their tasks. The younger Stanislav is attracted to work in the vineyard and started working full time for her. Radoslav was more interested in the process of wine production itself, because over the years a lot has changed in this direction and he had to study some things. In another business, which he does not consider necessary to specify, he remained: "I am motivated by management and it is not at all clear to me what I will do in four years, but wine is a hobby that I enjoy, what I like to return to, what I just like to do and in a way I relax with him. "

They started trying new techniques and it seemed to work. Many tasted it and acquaintances recommended that they immediately register their first wine - Pinot Blanc - for the same year for the Young Wine Competition in Levíce. "What the hell didn't our wine win the title of Champion of the show. As success is binding, we felt we had to keep doing it, success motivated us. I keep saying that there is nothing worse than when you are doing well in life. Then you have to keep doing it. ”

And so they continued and added new species every year. "First we made five types of wine, then six, eight, ten. We tried. Because from a real historical point of view, we didn't know how the real Chardonnay or the wine from the Moselle region tasted, for example. We have never produced such wines. We literally had to drink to them, and I admit that my brother and I spent a lot of money before we figured out how to make it from our resources. ”

The name of the Frtús brothers, known under the brand name Frtus Winery from Podlužany, found itself among the renowned winemakers at rocket speed. The quality of their wines is marked by something that you will not find fraternal chemistry in other companies.

Elder Radoslav is more of a manager, founder, creator of an idea, innovator and wine fanatic. Stanislav enthusiast and detailist, the right person in the right place. It feels best in the vineyard.

"Every wine is born in a vineyard and being there to shape your future harvest is what I enjoy. And the fact that I'm not locked up somewhere in the office. "

Therefore, it was logical that Stanislav was the one who without sadness gave up work in another area and dedicated his entire self to viticulture.

"I had several jobs, but only now am I doing what really fills me. Wine has a soul, its own story, which only you can tell, because from the beginning to the end you stand at its birth. And with us, really every kilogram of grapes and every liter of wine goes through our hands. "

The brothers meet once a week to discuss the next plans.

"My brother does not control me or order me. I tell him enough of what I could not afford for my boss, but for my brother, "he laughs. And that's what it's about. A different opinion, discussion, two minutes of silence, that's what makes their wine wine.

"We have a different opinion on some procedures, sometimes we make compromises, but there are not many contradictions. Because when it comes to wine production, we are on the same wavelength and we like the same wines. "We're all completely different, but that's how we set up a mirror, which is to the benefit of things."
