Over the years, gaining experience, as well as warming the climate, the idea and opportunity has emerged to move the level of wine significantly higher. And so in the mentioned year 2008, with the participation of two owners (Mr. Kutaj and Mr. Šustek), the construction of a professional winery began.
At the beginning, a vaulted cellar was built into the slope and adjacent production areas. The purchase of production technologies continued - stainless steel tanks, wooden barrels, a grinder and a small pneumatic press, which was replaced by a larger one by two years, and many other necessary things. Last but not least, it is necessary to mention the bottle filler itself, as the approach to the winery was more difficult at that time before the construction of the paved road.
Two terraces were created above the cellar, on which the first half hectare of the vineyard itself was planted, namely the varieties Ruladnské šedá, Sauvignon, Rizling rýnsky and the early red variety Acolon. The terraces offer us a beautiful view of almost the entire lower part of the Middle Region and on their slopes still grow a number of different types of fruit trees.
Already the first wines produced, even with the initial help of experienced oenologists, won several awards at prestigious wine competitions. The way of winemaking has thus taken a clear direction and, with efforts to constantly improve production, it produces quality wines to this day.
In 2015, a larger 2-hectare vineyard was planted, only 500 m away from the winery and located on the south-eastern slope at the foot of the Skalka hill, towards the village of Čachtice. The main varieties of the vineyard are Rhine Riesling, Italian Riesling, Sauvignon and Pálava, and in addition Pinot Gris, Golden Nutmeg, Irsai Oliver, Zweigeltrebe and Danube. In 2016, we created a new type of label, on which the elegant black background is the profile of the cellar building personified by gold embossing, under the terraces with a vineyard and the rising sun. We also procured two new large oak barrels, designed for more beautiful maturation of red wine. At present (in 2017), together with the creation of a new website, the premises of the fermenter, filling room and mechanization for vineyards are being modernized.
The goal of the Vinum Kult winery is to continue to produce quality varietal wines, using controlled fermentation and noble yeasts, with an increasing share of grapes from its own vineyards. However, we still buy grapes from our traditional suppliers and experienced growers, especially from the wine-growing villages of Čachtice, Hlohovec and Búč.
In conclusion, you must be wondering how the name Vinum Kult came about. In Latin, this phrase could be translated as "knit wine", a literal translation from several languages would also be possible as "friends of wine". The word Cult, however, also symbolizes the circle that was the basic element of the first label and can be explained as a "cult" or "grouping".
If we combine all this, we get a more extensive and concise connection:
Vinum Kult = Circle of friends of wine :)
