We have continued the family tradition from 1931, so three generations work together in our family winery and therefore we grow vineyards and other crops without the use of herbicides, pesticides and systemic chemicals. We believe that the grapes will do their best on their own, we only provide it with peace and time so that the wine can fully express the varietal characteristics and unique terroir of the Ružová and Vlča valleys. We strive for balance, harmony and authenticity, which can also be found in our wines.

VINO MAGULA - Suchá nad Parnou

We have continued the family tradition from 1931, so three generations work together in our family winery and therefore we grow vineyards and other crops without the use of herbicides, pesticides and systemic chemicals. We believe that the grapes will do their best on their own, we only provide it with peace and time so that the wine can fully express the varietal characteristics and unique terroir of the Ružová and Vlča valleys. We strive for balance, harmony and authenticity, which can also be found in our wines.

Our viticultural story continued during the time of restitution, when the field on which his great-grandfather had planted a vineyard returned to the hands of our family. At that time, we realized in Suchá on a magical plot of land, on a hill between Vlča and Ružová dolina, where one of the many monasteries that were in this locality once stood. Today, only the chapel of the Virgin of Lourdes remains here after the monastery, and we have our wine cellar here.

At that time (in 2001), however, we focused on planting a chestnut orchard, which we supplemented with the planting of beautiful, almost two-hundred-year-old edible chestnuts, which were already growing on the land. When the restitution took place, it was not entirely clear to us what we were going to do. The vineyards have long been grubbed up by the Communists, and we had only modest knowledge about viticulture and winemaking. Vineyards have been abandoned everywhere in Slovakia, there has been talk of extremely low prices for the purchase of grapes and that viticulture and winemaking is a demanding year-round work with an uncertain result. Nevertheless, we set out on this challenging journey together, although we only had a rough idea of what we were embarking on.

In 2007, we planted almost a hectare of Frankovka modre on the great-grandfather role, which in 2011 gave us our first regular harvest. Grapes of exceptional quality, which gave birth to deep and complex wine, encouraged us to continue on our journey and continue to discover the unique potential of the terroir in which our great-grandfather established family vineyards, as well as the secrets of transforming exceptional grapes into exceptional quality wine.

The connecting link that spanned the 70 years between the beginning and the continuation of our story is the only one of Jozef Husár's three daughters who has survived restitution. Magdaléna Magulová, born Husárová, also experienced the wine and viticultural successes of her father and also survived the long-term decline and eventually the liquidation of her father's vineyard. She left us satisfied that in the place where her father founded the original vineyard, the neat rows of the vineyard are growing again, and that her son and grandson and their families continue their family tradition…

Search period

The decision to embark on the uncertain path of viticulture and winemaking was followed by a long period of searching: visiting renowned wineries, interviews with established winemakers, building a professional library, surfing the web, studying and critically evaluating the accumulated amount of information, but especially tasting wines from various producers and searching for that wine where we would all agree that this is our role model…

It was encouraging for us that our fellow winemakers were willing to talk to us and share their opinions and experiences. We would like to mention Milan Pavelka from Pezinok, Jozef Mikuš from Doľany, Miroslav Petrech from Chateau Belá in Mužla and Ladislav Šeb from Karpatská Perla in Šenkvice. Jozef Zvolenský was also a great inspiration for us, who founded the Terra Parna winery with beautiful vineyards in Ružová dolina, thanks to which Suchá nad Parnou once again got on the wine map of the Malokarpatska region. Thanks also go to the faithful neighbor Milan Hutár, who decided to make us winemakers before this idea even occurred to us and accompanied us on our first viticultural and winemaking steps. Last but not least, we would like to thank our "rescue angel" Jožek Martišovič, whom we regularly turn to when he is really bad. We have never been disappointed, whether it was a lightning repair of a tractor, pulling out of a snowdrift or mud, or quick help in another accident that may lurk for every vine behind every root…

In one thing, however, all the established winemakers agreed: we have to find our own way…

Our way

We finally managed to find our way through wines that appealed to us, enchanted us and became our role model. These were natural wines from the Strekov 1075 winery, created by the charismatic Strekov winemakers Tibor Melecsky and Zsolt Sütö, as well as wines from the Austrian winemakers Claus Preisinger and Toni Hartl, made from grapes grown in biodynamic vineyards.

The wine-growing legends Ondrej Korpás from Strekov and Karol Braniš from Dolné Orešany, as well as the leading expert on ampelography Tibor Ruman from Šenkvíc, helped us with the advice and example of how to proceed in the vineyards. Zoltán Tamašek from Rúbane inspired us to embark on a demanding journey of bio-production earlier than we originally intended.

Today, we grow our grapes in an organic mode and intervene only minimally in the cellar, while creating optimal conditions for the wine and providing enough time for it to be made on its own…

Our strength

Our strength lies in the team division of work and personal commitment of each member of the family, including the wider one, which is now formed by our long-t
