Our services

exposure

The Small Carpathian Museum in Pezinok currently offers you two permanent exhibitions - The Story of Wine and the History of Viticulture and Enology under the Little Carpathians. In them, we will introduce you to the largest collection of wine presses in Europe and provide interesting information about viticulture and winemaking in the Little Carpathians. We use interactive elements for this, such as drunken simulators, aroma bar, bottle opener and more.

By combining historical architecture and modern elements, we will guide you through two millennia of growing grapevines in our territory. In order to involve all your senses when learning about the traditions of viticulture, you will also taste a glass of quality local wine in the entrance fee. The duration of the tour is about 1 hour. We provide interpretation in Slovak, English or. German language. We have audio guides with information in seven languages and sign language for the deaf.

The story of wine

The central motif of the exhibition is wine in a broader context - from the importance of climatic conditions through archaeological finds, viticultural self-government, architecture - to the turbulent events of the 20th century. We will take you through the oldest of the wine-growing areas, we will acquaint you with the positive and negative effects of drinking wine or its typical varieties. Also interesting are the finds of medieval and modern coins, which were discovered during the research of the museum building. A reference to wine or grapes in everyday items, together with the story of the winegrower and winemaker Jozef Belica - this is the conclusion of a tour of the new exhibition. It is against the background of Jozef Belica's life that the museum also presents the history of the 20th century for the first time. The tour is diversified by e.g. intoxication simulators, presentation of four types of soils in an imaginary vineyard but also interactivity for children's visitors, which are marked with the logo of children's programs - Strapček. It is possible to try e.g. dereš, compose archeological finds, zoom in on rare coins with a magnifying glass or listen to authentic memories of monuments. An interesting novelty are two open depositories, in which the visitor can look at the collection of fine arts, historical and ethnological collections.

History of viticulture and winemaking under the Little Carpathians

We focused the cellar exposition on the presentation of the history of viticulture and winemaking in the region of the Little Carpathians with the use of modern interactive elements. It also includes the largest collection of wine presses in Central Europe, each of which is unique. Our aim is to involve your senses in the tour with the help of light, sound, smells, tastes and active activity. An interesting feature in Slovak conditions is the so-called an aroma bar that tests your olfactory cells. We will introduce viticulture and viticulture to the visitor as an important phenomenon, which influenced not only the character of the landscape, but almost all areas of human life. The exposition in the cellars also offers interactivity to the children's visitor.

Educational programs

Museum pedagogy deals with activities and programs in the museum. The services of museum teachers are intended for everyone who is interested in the history of the region, at the same time they like to discover and are active. In addition to visiting the museum, you can also have fun and actively participate in the acquisition of new knowledge or skills. We are currently actively addressing schools in Pezinok and its surroundings, to which we offer educational programs for permanent exhibitions and exhibitions. For students, a visit to the museum is an opportunity to get better acquainted with the topic of the subject. Instead of sitting passively, students discover, work and complete tasks themselves. We recommend that teachers visit educational programs as part of the revival of the classical way of teaching.

Archaeological research

We carry out archaeological research during construction at archaeological sites on the basis of a decision of the Monuments Office. Its goal is to save the finds and finding situations in places with planned construction, during line constructions. If the Monuments Office has prescribed you to carry out research in the Bratislava region, we will be happy if you contact us with a request for its implementation. The Small Carpathian Museum in Pezinok carried out rescue research of the city walls in Pezinok, research in Pezinok Na bielenisku, research of the exterior of the church of St. Kataríny in Dechtice and many others.

Research for scientific and documentary purposes

The Little Carpathian Museum conducts research for scientific and documentary purposes. Our long-term interest is the research of one of the most important early medieval fortifications in Slovakia, located in Svätý Jur in the Neštich position. We have been researching the Slavic fortified settlement here since 2006. So far, in addition to monuments from the end of the 8th to the first half of the year, we have 10th century (jewelry, military, parts of equipment, tools, etc.) came across monuments from the Hallstatt and Roman times, as well as from the 13th-14th century.

We carried out further research in Pezinok in the Mahulanka position, where we came across the remains of a Slavic settlement from the half. 7th-8th century, which we plan to re-examine in the near future.

In addition to the mentioned research, we are engaged in the implementation of non-destructive surveys - collections, in cooperation with the Archaeological Institute of SAS in Nitra, we conducted a geophysical survey of a fortified settlement from the Bronze Age in Budmerice, where we plan to carry out further systematic research.
