At the beginning of the 1990s, a new ski lift was built, equipped with the Tatrapoma H 130 transport device. A new artificially lit piste with a total length of 800 meters and an elevation gain of 195 meters was created.
At the beginning of 2010, a snowmaking system was put into operation, which significantly improved the skiing conditions. Thanks to the snowmaking system, the entire piste No. 1 is covered with a continuous layer of snow.
Other sports activities
In addition to downhill skiing, Cigli also has a rich history of cross-country skiing. With sufficient snow cover, there are approximately 40 km of cross-country trails. The main cross-country trails are known as the Great Circuit (approx. 25km) and the Small Circuit (approx. 15km).
The village of Cigeľ and the adjacent mountain surroundings are the venue of a mass sports event called Pochod Vďaky SNP every year. Every year, hundreds or even thousands of sports enthusiasts meet here, who enjoy the beauty of the surrounding winter nature.
