The location of this sacred monument is remarkable in several respects. The cross is located on a slight artificial ridge in the district Chríb. The proven connection of the name Chríb with Slavic settlements and burial grounds in the past was amplified by archaeological discoveries of several prehistoric and medieval burial grounds in the parts with this designation. M. Majtán managed to collect about 100 such names from the territory of Slovakia, while their concentration is in northern and western Slovakia, but also in Moravia and Bohemia. Contemporary historiography agrees with the view that this name is of Slavic origin, and that it is in the localities with this designation that Slavic monuments are concentrated. . stor. was found around the stone cross, as well as in the nearby part of the pond. The proximity of the Slavic settlement in Majcichov also supports the indication of the Slavic settlement of Opoja in the Chríb part.
