Sv. Teresa of Lisieux is one of the most popular saints. She was born on January 2, 1873 in Alencone, France. She came from nine children, she was the youngest. Four brothers died as children. All five sisters entered the convent. The whole family lived a very pious life. Mother Zélia died in 1877. Father Ľudovít then took good care of his daughters. He entrusted Terezka's upbringing to her eldest daughter Paulina, who was twelve years older than her. Despite her young age, she had an admirable educational method. She didn't pamper her sister at all, though she liked her very much. She always sought unity with her father, who also supported her. In 1882, Paulina entered the Carmelite monastery. Terezka was striving to be an exemplary Christian at the time. She was very devoutly preparing for the first St. reception. Over the course of three months, she recorded 818 victims and 2773 good deeds in her diary. A prayer by a convicted criminal turned to her prayers. She was extremely happy. Although she was only fourteen and a half years old, she wanted to follow her sisters Pauline and Mary to the Carmelite monastery. Pope Leo XIII also applied for permission. A few weeks after her visit to Rome, she received word that her bishop was allowing her to enter the Carmelite monastery.

Life in the monastery was not easy. The bed consisted of three boards and a straw mat. Only the sick could eat meat. Fasting and silence were prescribed. However, Teresa gladly accepted it. Before the dressing, each postulant was to state why she entered the monastery. Theresa said, "I have come to save my soul and, above all, to pray for the priests." Although she was only fifteen years old, she was not anointed in the convent, but the performances seemed to test her faith. It was hard for her, but she bravely endured it. On September 8, 1890, she made eternal vows like Theresa of the Child Jesus and of the Most Holy Face. She longed to go on missions to Vietnam, but her poor health did not allow it. Her father died in 1894. Her native sister Celina also entered Carmel and another sister Leonia entered the Convent of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

At the beginning of 1895, on the orders of the superior mother Agnesa (her own sister Paulina), Terézia began to write her biography, which she called History of the Soul. There she wrote memorable words: “My vocation is love. I would like to love Jesus as fervently as anyone has ever loved him. The smallest act of love will benefit the Church more than any other deed. ”She wrote to her sister,“ If you want to become a saint, have no other goal than to make Jesus happy in the little things! ”She herself was a role model. She patiently endured the daily whispering and disturbance of a sister sitting next to her in the chapel, or with a splash of dirty water in her face, caused by another sister. She suffered a lot due to a poor diet, had severe stomach pains. She also suffered because of the harsh winter, because there was no smoking in the monastery at all. However, she never complained, only told the superior on her deathbed. She got tuberculosis. She coughed up blood. She died on September 30, 1897 at the age of twenty-four.

As she predicted, she launched a "rain of roses" from the sky. In 1923, Pope Pius XI. he declared himself blessed and two years later a saint. On December 14, together with St. He declared Francis Xavier the chief patron of the missions, although she had never been and did not work in them. On October 19, 1997, Pope John Paul II. he declared himself a teacher for the Church, although she wrote nothing theologically important except for her own biography and a few reflections and poems.
