The year is 1884 and the architect Gedeon Majunke is also famous for buildings such as the government villa KAMZÍK in Starý Smokovec, the hotel LOMNICA in Tatranská Lomnica or the rebuilt building of the villa Jánošík - now GRAND HOTEL KEMPINSKÝ in Štrbské Pleso is completing its next building. In Dolný Smokovec, based on the customer MUDr. Samuel Pappa creates a half-timbered villa with a unique decoration. MD. Samuel Papp, who had this building built, worked as a spa doctor in Dolný Smokovec since 1883.

He named the villa after the ancient god of medicine - AESCULAP.

The construction is realized on a cross floor plan made of compact material - wood and burnt brick. It is decorated with carved plate decoration and a decorative half-timbered construction in the popular Swiss style. The whole completion of this picturesque architecture is precisely in the richness of wooden elements and painted decoration between the half-timbered fields of the floor. The decoration is realized by neo-renaissance grotesque sgraffito with portraits, griffins, mascarons, phoenixes. The profession of the first owner is expressed by a medical symbol - Asclepius's stick.

After the establishment of Czechoslovakia, the villa was renamed the Kalinčiak Villa in honor of the romantic writer Janek Kalinčiak. It bears this name to this day. In 2011, it underwent extensive reconstruction as well as reconstruction of the gable roof. In this part, 4 apartments have been created, which, due to their division and character, provide positive energy for all those who manage to spend at least one night here.

There are several half-timbered buildings and reconstructed villas in the area, which completes the scenery around the villa Kalinčiak reminiscent of the nostalgia of the period more than 128 years ago.
