In the 2nd half 19th century the first efforts to repair the castle and establish a museum in it appeared, but this idea did not materialize until the first half. 20th century. The first expositions were opened here in 1931. At present, historical expositions documenting the development of Kežmarok and its surroundings are open to it. Separate exhibition units represent the prehistoric and medieval settlement of Kežmarok, the development of the town in the 13th to 19th centuries, the Kežmarok Rifle Association, the Association of Spiš Physicians and Pharmacists, MUDr. Vojtech Alexander - the founder of radiology in Hungary, the history of Kežmarok in the 19th and 20th centuries, historical portraits from the museum's collections, the relationship of the Kežmaroks to the High Tatras, the Thököly family, the Jewish community in Kežmarok ... A tour of the castle grounds is connected with a visit to the castle chapel and lookout tower.
