The foundation stone was ceremoniously laid on July 25, 1642. The church was connected for several years by an arched roofed corridor, connecting it with the southern wing of the building ev. college in r. 1716. The temple burned down several times. From the interior of the original church, some Renaissance benches from the end of the 17th century have been preserved. and stally (late baroque stools from the last third of the 18th century). Organ of r. 1642 is one of the most beautiful Baroque monuments in Prešov. One of the blankets, decorated with a thistle motif, which they exhibited at the World's Fair in Paris in 1900, dates from the 18th century.
The dominant feature of the church is the altar built in the Classicist style in 1865. In the middle is a picture with the biblical theme of Jesus with the Samaritan woman. The original painting was painted by the court painter of the British Queen Victoria, Karol Brocký. Under the left staircase is a side crypt with the remains of four victims of the Prešov Bloody Court from 1687. In the church crypt are the remains of 17 Jesuit monks and superiors, who were buried there during the 18th century.
Together with the neighboring Evangelical College, it forms a chronicle of the history of the Reformation and the Counter-Reformation. The Jesuits worked in it for 89 years, after the abolition of their order, the church and the college went to public auction, and in the 18th century the Evangelicals managed to get it back (buy it).
