Pernecké mines

Old mining works for pyrite and antimony ore above the Malokarpatska village of Pernek.

Year of origin: 19th - 20th century

Pernek is a small village on the western side of the Little Carats. Already in the first written collection from 1394, mining in the vicinity of Pernek is mentioned. However, Pernek's greatest glory is associated with the extraction of antimony (added to steel to have strength) and pyrite (used, for example, in the production of sulfuric acid).

The youngest mining works are located in the mining locality below Krížnice. At the beginning of the 20th century, the Czech businessman Leopold Klíma built a railway from Pernek to the mining tunnels during the First World War (the mines were still under military administration). At present, the railway no longer exists, but the tourist path goes to the places of the former railway. The road passes through several large embankments and has an excellent slope.
