The first cogwheel began to operate for the public on the Štrba-Štrbské Pleso line as early as 1896, its construction was initiated by Jozef Szentiványi.

Between the stops was the current Nový Štrbské pleso at the then Móry settlement. After the First World War, it was gradually replaced by buses, and in 1933 it was completely shut down and later dismantled by its railway superstructure. Today's functioning cogwheel between Štrba and Štrbské Pleso was established in 1970 on the occasion of the World Championships in jumping and cross-country skiing. The track roughly follows the route of its predecessor, but it is electrically powered, the destination station is shifted from the shores of the lake to the railway station of the Tatra electric railway.

History
The resort of the imperial court
Already at the end of the 19th century, the Augusta villa with Štrbské pleso grew up with 38 rooms and served as a resort for the imperial court. Later it was renamed to Jiskra and after 1945 with the modification of the facade it was renamed to Solisko - at that time already serving as a children's hospital. In 1994, the hospital was demolished and within three years, a new Solisko hospital with simpler shapes was built. Since 2011, with its internal modifications, it has been offering its services as the Solisko **** hotel, with an orientation towards families with children and, in fact, to everyone who likes the Tatras at their fingertips.
