This part of Nové Štrbské Pleso was founded in 1905 by the Banská Bystrica architect Karol Móry (1846-1921), who bought land on the site where the moraine rises above the marshes and peat bogs. His effort was to make this part of the High Tatras accessible to more modest clients, who could not afford to stay in more expensive facilities. He did not even cut his guests by a lake, he created an artificial lake - Nové Štrbské pleso - from the swamp by extracting peat and partially capturing the Mlynica stream.

This lake could not compete with Štrbské pleso, but it was possible to create a picturesque corner, where guests could also boat. According to him, this area was called Móry's settlement and the ridge above the settlement of the so-called Klát (where you are now) in Latin Montemory. Karol Móry had a hotel and restaurant built here on the shores of the lake in 1905, which was in operation from 15 May to 15 October and provided accommodation for 100 visitors in 50 rooms (today the Baník Hotel stands here). Later, his nephew Ján, who was a music teacher and composer, inherited this settlement with the hotel. He had two smaller hotels and guesthouses built. He built a lookout tower with a café on the Klát hill and a church nearby. He organized concerts for his guests. Košice Radio even set up a studio in Móry's hotel, through which concerts were also broadcast on the air.
