History
A simple monument to soldiers killed in the First World War was erected in Neštich (renamed Smolenická Nová Ves since 1950 and affiliated to Smolenice since 1960) in 1928. Of the names on the memorial plaque, Jozef Muttek (* 1889) is worth mentioning. a student at the Prague University of Business, who enlisted in the army immediately after graduating from school. In 1915 he was sentenced to death by shooting for contact with the Russians.
