In 1924, grateful citizens erected a monument to their fallen in front of the Old School (near the statue of St. Florian). The inscriptions on the monument show that it was built at the expense of citizens and contributions from the American Catalans František Janíček and Ján Lukačovič. On the monument are the names of the fallen and the names of returnees who died as a result of illness or injury from the war immediately upon return (until the construction of the monument). The number of fallen was 35, with only some having photographs on the monument.

The monument to the fallen in World War I was during the bombing of our village in World War II. World War 1, April 1, 1945 completely shattered by a bomb that fell in its immediate vicinity. The fate of this monument was therefore remarkable, it can be figuratively said that the monument to the fallen in World War I "fell" in World War II. World War II, when the Red Army bombed the retreating German army. The ruins of the monument lay in its vicinity until 1947, when the Voluntary Fire Brigade of the village of Kátlovce contributed to its restoration.
