In 1875, lightning damaged the northern part of the building, which had to be demolished. At the beginning of the 20th century, a new building was built on this site. In 1931, the Castle was bought by the city, which in 1936 sold it to the Slovak Vineyard Cooperative. Despite many reconstructions, the Castle has preserved the layout of a medieval water castle and is considered a unique architectural monument in Slovakia.
