Archaeological and building-historical research was provided by the Košice monuments PhDr. Marcela Ďurišová and Akad. arch. Jozef Duchoň. The museum project is the work of Ing. arch. Alexander Lami. The museum is located in the basement of the Main Street, south of the Cathedral of St. Elizabeth. The historic fortifications of Košice and part of the former city sewerage system are accessible. In this building there are also artifacts from the Cathedral of St. Elizabeth. The building was entrusted to the administration of SMMK, sro from 2002 to 2013. The museum is open to the public from May 1 to September 15, daily from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. except Monday.
Archaeological excavations have uncovered and made available to the public the remains of the following objects:
Arpad tower of the Lower Gate from the second half of the 13th century
Arpad Wall, the oldest wall of the city with a system of arcades from the end of the 13th century
Luxembourg Tower of the Lower Gate with a stone bridge over the first moat from the beginning of the 15th century
Luxembourg fence wall from the beginning of the 15th century
Stone sewer for draining water from a ditch from the 15th century
The Corvinus Barbican and the bridge leading to its eastern gate from the turn of the 15th and 16th centuries
Corvinus stone bridge with arched arches leading to the barbican from the turn of the 15th and 16th centuries
Betlen's bastion from the first half of the 17th century
Foundations of the Lower Barracks from 1713, demolished in 1830
