Small Carpathian Museum in Pezinok

1 rating
We are building a dynamic museum of the 21st century, which primarily specializes in the ancient culture of viticulture and winemaking in the Little Carpathians. We represent a more than fifty-five-year tradition of collecting, researching, protecting and making accessible objects that document the diverse history of the region. We manage, among other things, the largest collection of wine presses in Europe. Since the founding of the museum in 1960, the residential building has been a historic Renaissance house from the 17th century in the town of Pezinok.

The building and the expositions underwent several reconstructions so that today we can offer the public a presentation of our history in a modern design and also through experience. In addition, we organize a number of cultural, social, educational or artistic activities for several target groups of the public.

Museum vision
We want to be a space for the future, so that we can present the current modern generation in an attractive way to present our history and culture on which we are based, and to answer questions about today's integrity or problems of current everyday life. Our vision is not to be a house of the past, a nostalgic open-air museum where time stood still. In addition to collecting, protecting and making accessible collection items, we will create a valuable and experiential alternative to spending free time to be sought after by domestic and foreign visitors. The main goal will not be to educate and force learning, but to capture interest, attract the senses and let them go with a positive feeling.
We will be a modern and dynamic county museum, which will emphasize the traditional elements of the history of today's Bratislava region - viticulture and winemaking in Pezinok and its surroundings, ceramic and Haban tradition in Stupava and the antiquity of our ancestors in this area on the example of Svätý Jur - in the local museum and future archeopark. We are convinced that by combining knowledge, good marketing, originality of objects and interactive-experiential presentation, we will be a respected organization in the environment of regional culture as well as tourism. In addition, we have the ambition to be a natural center of regional, cultural and creative industries.

The Small Carpathian Museum in Pezinok has been under the founding authority of the Bratislava self-governing region since 2002. At present, its branches are four outposts: the Literary and Patriotic Museum in Svätý Jur, the Ferdiš Kostka Museum in Stupava, the Malinov Mansion and the Synagogue in Senec.
